Hostels are great places to stay. Generally cheaper than a hotel room for solo travellers and a great social opportunity for those new to a city and staying just a few days, hostels are often located near city centers and transit hubs.

Hostels are no longer “youth” hostels either. Anyone can stay at hostels and the common areas make great places to meet your varied hostel-mates.
